Mid-week mail call:
Ethan from Salt Lake City wants to know if I think Denver running back Knowshon Moreno is a bust.
Bill Williamson: It’s only his second season so it’s way too early to say that. However, more has been expected from the No.12 overall pick in 2009. He was supposed to be a bell-cow back. While it hasn’t happened yet, he still has time. Look at Oakland’s Darren McFadden. He is finally putting it together in his trade year. But so far, Moreno has been average and injury prone. You have to wonder if he is ever going to a consistent impact player.
Dennis from Sherman Oaks, Calif., wants to know what I think Vincent Jackson is worth in a trade.
BW: San Diego wants two second-round picks in return for Jackson. It’s understandable. That’s what Denver got from Miami for Brandon Marshall. They are comparable players. The word is San Diego turned down a second-round pick plus a conditional pick from Minnesota. The Chargers will have two days in October -- the 18th and 19th -- to trade Jackson. I wouldn’t be surprised if San Diego trades Jackson if a deal similar to what Minnesota offered came up again. They should. Jackson is done as a Charger and they might as well get something for him.
Michael from N.J. wants to know if I think the Chiefs could eventually try to trade for Kevin Kolb.
BW: I think that may be something that is discussed down the road if needed. Right now, the Chiefs are committed to Matt Cassel. Yes, the Chiefs can get out of his deal after the season. But Cassel really came on in the Chiefs’ win over San Francisco. Plus, the Chiefs are 3-0. Now if the Chiefs fall apart and its Cassel’s fault and the Eagles make Kolb available in the offseason, well, then maybe it will be a fit. But a lot of things have to happen.
