The San Diego Chargers continue to deal with the injury bug.
The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that second-year linebacker Larry English will miss four weeks with a foot injury that has been bothering him for several weeks. English had surgery on the foot.
San Diego, which is also dealing with injuries in their running game, on the offensive line and at long snapper, have four healthy linebackers. Shawne Merriman is dealing with a calf injury. Merriman has been ravaged by multiple injuries the past two years. English started for Merriman in the first two games and Meriman started in the loss at Seattle on Sunday.
If Merriman can’t play, Antwan Applewhite will start at outside linebacker for the 1-2 Chargers against visiting the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday. English, the No. 16 overall pick in 2009, has been showing promise. However, he will still be able to contribute for much of this season when he returns from his injury.
