Kirk Ferentz has taken himself out of the mix for the Chiefs' head-coaching job. Still, Ferentz appeared to be a long shot next to Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

Tony Gonzalez has made it clear he has yet to ask Kansas City for a trade. He has maintained that his wish is to stay with the Chiefs but he has to be convinced the team is ready to win now.

Meanwhile, Larry Johnson told a radio station he wants out. This is his second such proclamation since the end of the season. Expect the Chiefs to grant his wish and part ways with the running back by the end of the month.

The Oakland Tribune has several interesting tidbits from the Tom Cable press conference.
