- Giants running back Derrick Ward could be a Denver target in free agency.
My take: The Broncos shouldn't overspend on a running back in free agency. Denver has shown it can get by just fine with journeyman running backs. Youngsters Ryan Torain and Peyton Hillis can get the job done. Denver's resources should be dedicated to fixing the defense.
- Could the Chiefs take another tackle from Virginia?
My take: Last year, Kansas City drafted Branden Albert at No. 15. This year, Virginia tackle Eugene Monroe is a top prospect and the Chiefs have the No. 3 pick. I don't see the team going tackle at No. 3.
- Raiders coach Tom Cable wants to see quarterback JaMarcus Russell become a better leader.
My take: Good for Cable. There had been rumblings that many in Oakland don't think Russell works hard enough or studies the game enough. Maybe this is what Cable is hinting at in his comments. Cable is always very positive and optimistic. It is good to see him take this stance. Russell will determine whether Oakland turns the corner or stays in the dumpster. It seems like Cable has recognized this and is working hard to make sure his quarterback is a success.
