DENVER -- The gory details of a 35-10 Denver lead at halftime:
If Kansas City comes back in this game, a 58-yard field-goal attempt by Denver may be the catalyst. Matt Prater’s attempt was short and Kansas City rookie safety Eric Berry, who was in the end zone, caught the ball and returned it to Denver’s 30-yard line. With one second remaining, Ryan Succop drilled a field goal to make it 35-10.
Still, a lot will have to happen for this to become a competitive game.
Denver scored 35 points and faced third down just twice.
Denver quarterback Kyle Orton has completed 15 of 22 passes for 210 yards and three touchdown passes. Denver running back Knowshon Moreno is having his best game of the season. He has 67 yards rushing on eight carries.
Kansas City, which entered the game with the No. 1 rushing offense in the NFL, has 30 yards on 12 carries. With Kansas City trailing by 25 points, I don’t see it using a ground attack much in the second half.
