Moving on: Kansas City Chiefs

Here are some areas the Kansas City Chiefs need to focus on after a 49-29 loss at Denver:

Recap: The Chiefs lost their season-long hold on first place in a blowout loss. Kansas City is now 5-4 and tied with Oakland for first place in the AFC West. The Chiefs were never in this game as they trailed 35-0 in the second quarter. This was, by far, Kansas City’s worst game of the season.

Biggest area to fix: slow start. Teams that trail 21-0 after the first quarter and 35-0 in the second quarter just don’t win games. The Chiefs have to work on not letting games get out of control.

Biggest area to build on: passing offense. Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel threw for 469 yards and receiver Dwayne Bowe had 13 catches for 186 yards. Yes, most of the yardage was achieved with the game out of hand. But still, those are impressive numbers, garbage time or not.

What to watch for: Kansas City hosts Arizona. This is a very winnable game. Kansas City needs to end its two-game losing streak and at least hold onto a piece of first place.
