OK, the NFL preseason is not exactly high up on the list of riveting sports moments of the year.

But after perusing the preseason schedule that was released Monday, there some interesting story lines involving AFC West teams:

WEEK 1: AUG. 13-17

Denver at San Francisco: Former 49ers head coach Mike Nolan returns to San Francisco for the first time since being fired during last season. Nolan is the new defensive coordinator in Denver.

WEEK 2: AUG. 20-24

Kansas City at Minnesota: The Chiefs will face star defensive end Jared Allen for the first time since he was traded to the Vikings last April. Allen didn't participate last year when the two teams worked out together during training camp. He'll probably only play a quarter or so this summer but it should be enough to remind the Chiefs how much they miss his stellar pass-rushing ability.

WEEK 3: AUG. 27-31

San Diego at Atlanta (CBS, 8/29): The Chargers will face former tailback Michael Turner for the second time since he departed through free agency last season. Turner and the Falcons won in San Diego last year.
