Redskins sign former Oakland linebacker

The Washington Redskins have signed former Oakland linebacker Robert Thomas.

Thomas was with Oakland for the past three years. He started one game last year before being put on injured reserve with a hamstring injury. The Raiders never made a huge play to bring back Thomas. Oakland could add a young backup linebacker at some point in the draft.

He is looked at as a versatile player who could play any linebacker position. His best season in Oakland was in 2007 when he started 10 games and had 62 tackles.
