Jim Harbaugh certainly didn’t do anything to turn off John Elway on Monday night in Miami.
With the Denver Broncos' leader to-be in attendance as an honorary captain for his alma mater, Harbaugh’s Stanford Cardinal made a national statement with a 40-12 win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl.
It could have been Harbaugh’s final game as Stanford’s coach. Harbaugh is one of the hottest coaching candidates available and he is expected to draw interest from the San Francisco 49ers and his alma mater, Michigan, if the Wolverines decide to have a job opening at head coach. Harbaugh refused to talk about his future after the game.
Elway is set to be become the top football decision maker for the Broncos on Wednesday. The former Stanford and Denver star quarterback was planning to woo Harbaugh to become Denver’s head coach while in Miami for the bowl game, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.
Whether Elway will be successful in his first major tasks as an NFL suit remains to be seen.
