The San Diego Union Tribune is reporting that the Chargers have talked about going after Oakland free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, but it is a long shot. This would be interesting, to say the least.

But the truth is, Asomugha is going to be the most sought after free agent in the NFL. Every team is likely going to discuss him and the Raiders will do everything they can to keep him. Actually, the mere fact that San Diego is considering Asomugha will likely be enough for Al Davis to up his offer to Asomugha.

We have a long way to go before free agency starts and I’m sure we’ll hear of more team’s interest in Asomugha.

Meanwhile, the San Diego Union Tribune is also reporting that San Francisco defensive coordinator Greg Manusky is set to become the Chargers’ defensive coordinator, replacing Ron Rivera who took the head-coaching job in Carolina. Manusky has been considered the favorite to take over for Rivera.

Manusky’s expected hire in San Diego could affect Oakland. Dallas was interested in Manusky and is now focusing on Rob Ryan. It has been speculated that Ryan -- a former defensive coordinator in Oakland -- could be on the Raiders’ radar as a head coach or as a defensive coordinator if offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is promoted to head coach.
