Jackson
Jackson
Age: 45

Claim to fame: He is known as one of the better young offensive coaches in the NFL. He had a dramatic impact on Oakland’s offense in 2010, his first with the team. The Raiders scored 410 points, sixth most in the NFL, as they improved to 8-8.

Why he was hired: Jackson is the best man to continue the development of Oakland’s young, talented offense.

What to expect: The Raiders will be aggressive, loud and confident. Jackson will try to build a tough, strong team.

His biggest challenge: Getting back to the playoffs. Oakland hasn’t been to the postseason since 2002. Winning is the only thing that matters to Oakland owner Al Davis. If Jackson doesn’t quickly produce a winner, Davis probably will hire his seventh coach since the end of the 2001 season.

Did you know? Jackson is credited with helping the development of quarterbacks Carson Palmer in Cincinnati and Joe Flacco in Baltimore.
