I just got off the phone with ESPN medical analyst Stephania Bell to discuss Denver second-year receiver Demaryius Thomas' Achilles tendon injury that will take 6-8 months to heal.
The Broncos did not elaborate on his injury or whether it was partially torn or ruptured. Bell, without knowing any details, said the recovery time listed suggested that Thomas ruptured the tendon. But she said it is impossible to know if the team is not saying.
“I’d say the timeline listed says it’s completely torn,” Bell said.
Bell said it is a serious injury and it could compromise a receiver’s explosiveness. But she continued that Thomas should be able to fully recover from it.
“The preparing of the injury has gotten better and so has the rehab from it,” Bell said. “It’s not a good injury to have, but it’s not the end of the world.”
