Denver and San Diego headlines

The Broncos have a bunch of hybrid front-seven players.

My take: Denver needs a couple of these players to make an impact. The best bets are veteran Elvis Dumervil and first-round pick Robert Ayers. Dumervil is a natural pass-rusher and Ayers comes into the league with big expectations. If those two play well and the Denver front three develops quickly, perhaps its new 3-4 system will have success.

San Diego

Darren Sproles meets some kids close to his heart.

My take: Sproles is dealing with his stuttering issues head on and meeting with children who stutter will help both him and the kids. The Chargers' dynamic and diminutive running back has taken steps to improve his issue. I spoke with him at the team's minicamp two weeks ago and his speech was noticeably improved from when I first met him a year earlier. Sproles is a blossoming star on the field and is an inspiration to children off it.
