Mid-week mail call:

Bobby from Olathe, Kan., wants to know if there is any chance San Diego could move up from No. 18 to take Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller.

Bill Williamson: If the San Diego Chargers want to move up, I think Miller could be a top target. He is the type of game-changing pass rusher that the Chargers need. He’d be expensive and he could require a trade all the way up to No. 5. But the Chargers have extra picks in the second and third rounds, so they have the ammunition. Miller would give this team the pass-rushing charge it needs.

Kevin from Hoqiuam, Wash., wants to know if I see any quarterbacks slipping to Oakland in the second round.

BW: I think it’s very possible. Often, once the first round ends, quarterbacks fall. Last year, Jimmy Clausen was the third quarterback off the board and he went No. 47. Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett could tumble because of character questions, although he had a strong performance at the combine, which could keep him in the first round. He could be an interesting consideration for the Oakland Raiders at No. 48. Other possibilities include Nevada’s Colin Kaepernick and TCU’s Andy Dalton. Oakland would rather take a player who can play right away in the second round, but these quarterbacks could be tempting.

Justin Holroyd from Cheyenne, Wyo. wants to know what I think Denver should do at quarterback in 2011.

BW: I think Denver should, and will, end up going with Tim Tebow. I believe Kyle Orton is a better player at this point, but Denver needs to see what it has in Tebow. The Broncos are going to have to play him at some point, so it might as well be at the start of the John Fox era. Plus, Orton can bring some good trade value now. The fans in Denver want Tebow as well. This seems like the perfect time to make this change. If Tebow is ultimately a failure, Denver needs to find out sooner than later and while Orton is more valuable on the open market.
