The sad story of former Oakland Raiders’ center Barret Robbins took another turn Friday. Robbins accepted a five-year prison term after another violation of Miami-Dade probation.

“I’m happy to have a resolution,” Robbins said after his sentencing. “It’s kind of a relief to be honest with you.”

Robbins has had a history of level issues after his NFL career ended. Robbins is most remembered for going AWOL on the evening of Oakland’s 48-21 Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay in Jan. 2003. Robbins, a Pro Bowl center, did not play in the game. He was later suspended by the NFL for steroid use. Robbins said he plans on continuing his autobiography while in prison.
