Charles wasn't sure he'd run past Tebow

Jamaal Charles is a different kind of cat.

The Kansas City Chiefs' explosive running back drives one of the most outlandish, look-at-me vehicles known to man. Yet, he works out at his local YMCA and he shops at Wal-Mart. Read more about the NFL’s curious star in an entertaining ESPN.com Page 2 interview.

A portion of the interview that sticks out is Charles is surprised he beat Denver quarterback Tim Tebow in SportsNation’s race to be the “Madden12” cover boy. Yet, Charles easily dispatched Tebow. He is now in a second-round battle with Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew.

Here’s what Charles had to say about his matchup with Tebow: "I kind of feel like if you look at who's been doing stuff in their career to that point, yeah, I think I deserved it. But at that time, you know he has a big fan base. He's coming from winning two national championships and a Heisman trophy. You'd think this god of football would be whipping my tail in the 'Madden' cover thing."

Will Charles beat Jones-Drew and reach the quarterfinals? How are you voting?
