The Chargers are reportedly among the teams that will visit with Colorado cornerback Jimmy Smith. Smith is considered a top-15 talent, but he has off-field concerns that could affect his draft status.

I’d be surprised if the Chargers used the No. 18 pick on Smith, but they could grab him if he somehow fell to No. 50 or if the team acquires another pick between No. 18 and No. 50.

UDPATE: The National Football Post reported Monday afternoon that Oakland will visit with Smith as well. The Raiders’ first pick is No. 48. Oakland may have a need at cornerback if Nnamdi Asomugha leaves as a free agent. Smith would be a steal for Oakland at No. 48.

In other Monday afternoon AFC West nuggets:

Writing for the Chiefs' website, Josh Looney believes the team is in position to trade out of No. 21.

Pro Football Focus takes a good look at underrated Kansas City defensive end Wallace Gilberry.

Kansas City veterans Dwayne Bowe and Mike Vrabel are among the current NFL players who will participate in the NFLPA Rookie Debut draft celebration in New York.
