I had the opportunity to catch up with Loreane Tomlinson, the mother of San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

She released a book, "LT and Me" about her life with her son earlier this month. Loreane Tomlinson took time to answer five questions about her son:

Bill Williamson: Why is a book about your son required reading?

Loreane Tomlinson: I think this book is for football fans, parents, children, anyone can identify with this book. It's about any kid's dream and how we cultivate them.

BW: What is your favorite memory of LaDainian as a child?

LT: When he was 10 or 11, I remember checking on him when he was asleep. He was lying on his back and he was hugging a football. I remember thinking it was the way a mother would hug her child if they were napping. It was a moment I still hold dear to me.

BW: What are you most proud of about LaDainian?

LT: The man, the good, decent person he has become. The focus he has and his faith in God he has made me very proud. Fame has not changed him, his status, money, all the fans and people who want to be around him, hasn't changed him. He still loves people.

BW: How important is it to you that he finishes his career as a Charger?

LT: It is important because that's what he wants to do. San Diego has embraced and loved him. I would like to see him finish his career there. But I've learned you have to go with the flow and deal with whatever happens. But finishing his career there is important to me.

BW: Do you think your son will break Emmitt Smith's all-time NFL rushing yardage record? (Smith had 18,355 yards in 15 NFL seasons. Tomlinson has 11,760 rushing yards in eight NFL seasons.)

LT: I believe he can if he plays long enough. I'm not sure how long he will play. But if he focuses and puts his mind to it, he can do it.
