Marshall's absence was team's decision

There was some commotion earlier Tuesday in Denver when Brandon Marshall wasn't on the practice field.

It turns out that Broncos coach Josh McDaniels held him out because he was sore. Marshall had hip surgery in March. He is practicing with the rookies early. The Broncos' full squad starts training camp Friday.

Marshall made news when he reported and practiced Monday. He had previously asked to be traded and by the sound of his remarks Monday, the only reason why he reported was to avoid a fine.

Thus, his absence was newsworthy. Turns out it was a club-sanctioned absence. But that's what this summer is going to be like in Denver. Every time Marshall isn't on the field, the alarms will sound.
