DENVER -- Jay Cutler has the goods.
The guy was unbelievable tonight. For tonight, at least, he was the best player on the field in Denver's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Cutler, entering his second full season as Denver's starting quarterback, completed his first 12 pass attempts of the game. Cutler finished competing 16 of 20 passes for 178 yards. Cutler was outstanding last week against Houston as well. He now has completed 24 of 30 passes for 237 yards in the preseason. Cutler has also been outstanding in training camp.
From the way Cutler sliced up Dallas this week in the two teams' joint workout and the way he has played in the preseason, watch for him to make a Pro Bowl push this season. If Denver is going to make the playoffs this year, it will be because Cutler arrives.
Meanwhile, it looks like Cutler has himself a nice No. 2 receiver behind Brandon Marshall. Eddie Royal, a camp star, caught two passes for 67 yards from Cutler, His second catch was brilliant in traffic. If Royal can continue his development, Cutler will have an excellent pair of receivers to throw to.
