Joe from Concord, Calif., wants to know if the Raiders should be encouraged by their preseason-opening win over Dallas.
Bill Williamson: Hey, the Raiders are in first place in the division. They are the only team in the AFC West to win last week. I'm not a big "winning is important" in the preseason type of guy. I think the important part is making progress. I think there were some good things that came out of that game for Oakland. Darren McFadden looked great, Chaz Schilens looked great and team competed hard. The 14 penalties were not good, but there is plenty of time to clean up those issues. Overall, the Raiders had a solid opening week to the preseason.
Aaron R. from Saint Augustine, Fla., wants to know if rookie Tom Brandstater could play in the preseason as a result of Kyle Orton's poor play Friday night.
BW: I would think Brandstater is going to get some playing time, but I don't think it will be because of Orton's issues. Brandstater will not be in the mix for the starting job. Chris Simms may get more playing time in the preseason if Orton continues to struggle. Brandstater's only playing time will be to get him some seasoning as a third-stringer.
Connor from OP, Kan., wants to know if the Chiefs will pursue free-agent tackle Levi Jones.
BW: I checked into this question and, thus far, no the Chiefs are not pursuing the veteran. He is waiting for a good opportunity to arise. If the Chiefs get uncomfortable or suffer an injury, maybe Jones could be in the mix. But he is not in the team's plans as of now.
