San Diego plays at Atlanta on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for from the Chargers:
1. Protect Philip Rivers: The Chargers' offensive line allowed Rivers to be sacked four times last week in a limited appearance. San Diego's offensive line is better than that. It needs to show it.
2. Kick coverage: San Diego gave up two long kick returns early in the game last week. This needs to be cleaned up. San Diego faces Oakland, which has one of the better kick return games in the league, on opening day.
3. Shawne Merriman: Merriman said last week that his knee won't be at full strength until a few weeks into the regular season. This will likely be his final preseason tune up. He needs to make it count.
