Floyd Little just took a major step toward the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He was named one of two finalists for election next February through the Senior Committee.

Making it through the Senior Committee is Little's only chance of making it. If the former Denver star running back doesn't make it next February, his chances for election may evaporate forever. However, in recent years, most senior committee nominees have been elected to the Hall of Fame.

Little has gotten strong consideration for the senior committee nomination in recent years. Tuesday, though he finally broke through.

The Broncos have been very aggressive in campaigning for Little to make the hall of fame. Little, 67, played for Denver from 1967-75. He gained 6,323 career yards and had 43 career touchdowns. Little is still considered one of Denver's best all-time players.

It potentially could be a special election day for Denver next year as the 2010 class voted in. In addition to Little, former Denver tight end Shannon Sharpe is considered a strong candidate.
