The Chargers received a 24-hour extension to sell enough tickets to avoid a local television blackout for Thursday’s preseason opener against Seattle. The game will be shown nationally on ESPN. To help boost ticket sales for the game, people who want tickets for the Green Bay game in the regular season must buy tickets for this week’s game. Green Bay tickets can also be purchased in four-game mini-season ticket plans.
- San Diego running back Ryan Mathews likely won’t play Thursday in the preseason opener. He has a minor upper leg injury. The Chargers are simply being cautious. Still, the team does want to see Mathews, who had durability concerns last season, play some in the preseason.
- Oakland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey took part in practice Monday and had a good day. He had been hampered for virtually all of training camp with an undisclosed injury. This is an important camp for the No. 7 pick of the 2009 draft. His presence at practice is vital.
- The supplemental draft will be held Aug. 17. If former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is eligible, expect him to be linked to the Raiders.
