Will the AFC West return to L.A.?

The NFL’s return to Los Angeles -- the Raiders and Rams departed in 1995 -- took another step closer this week when the city council passed the financial framework of a deal between Anschutz Entertainment Group and the city to build Farmers Field.

All the talk now surrounds which team will end up in Los Angeles, if indeed the league returns to the city. That’s where the AFC West comes into play. Both San Diego and Oakland appear to be teams that could potentially move. I was in San Diego this week and there is heavy talk that the Chargers may be the most likely NFL team to make the jump.

ESPNLA's Arash Markazi takes an in-depth look at all of the candidates. The Chargers are the first team he looks at, perhaps because the Chargers, who are trying to get a downtown San Diego stadium, can bounce out of their lease in San Diego beginning in February.

In an ESPN radio interview, Markazi said the city of San Diego has done nothing to try to keep the Chargers.

Meanwhile, a Los Angeles Times columnist does not like the idea of the Raiders moving back to Los Angeles.

My advice to both San Diego and Oakland fans during this unsettling time? Just enjoy this season and don’t fret about the future.
