Peyton Hillis is getting some work on kick returns.
My take: This is guy is terrific. He is very valuable. He can play running back, fullback, H-back and he can return kicks. Hillis is the type of player who coaches fall in love with and it seems that is happening with new Denver coach Josh McDaniels.
Tyler Thigpen isn't focusing on trade talks.
My take: That's all he can do. Yes, Thigpen probably has heard the talk that Jacksonville is pursuing him and the Chiefs have him on the market. But there is nothing he can do about it because it is out of his control. There is probably a part of Thigpen that wants a trade. He is buried in Kansas City and probably could benefit from a fresh start.
Darrius Heyward-Bey had a good day catching the ball.
My take: He should have good days catching the ball. He's a receiver who was the No. 7 overall pick in the draft and who will be paid $23 million guaranteed. The basis of his career is to catch the ball. It shouldn't be an issue anymore.
The Chargers' offensive line has to protect Philip Rivers better.
My take: Rivers just signed a $92 million deal. He is precious cargo. The Chargers' offensive line allowed Rivers to be sacked four times last week against Arizona. The Chargers have usually protected Rivers well. They have to show last week was a fluke. If not, Rivers' health will be in major jeopardy.
