The first day of the Matt Cassel Watch apparently ended well.
Kansas City coach Todd Haley told the media that Cassel was a full participant in practice Monday. The team doesn’t need to say how much players participate until Wednesday. The injury report will come out Friday.
Bobgretz.com reported that Cassel appeared less than at full strength during the portion of practice the media could watch Monday.
Cassel’s situation will be closely monitored every day. The Kansas City Star reported Sunday that Cassel has a rib injury he suffered in the second quarter of the preseason finale at Green Bay on Thursday night. The exact extent of the injury is unknown.
ESPN medical analyst Stephania Bell indicated that whether or not Cassel can play Sunday against visiting Buffalo will come down to pain tolerance. I know the plan is for Cassel to play, but it will all depend on his progress. Monday was a good start, though.
