Since the final preseason game is usually reserved for players fighting for the final few rosters spots and few, if any, starters play, there isn’t much emphasis put on the games.
So, we’re going to streamline our previews:
Thursday games
Kansas City at St. Louis, 8 p.m. ET
Chiefs’ top goal: To keep whatever quarterback playing healthy. The Chiefs will need the troops with Matt Cassel’s status for opening day unsettled because of a knee injury.
Arizona at Denver, 9 p.m. ET
Broncos’ top goal: To win to avoid their first winless preseason since 1960, which was Denver’s inaugural season.
Oakland at Seattle, 10 p.m. ET
Raiders’ top goal: To cut down on penalties. Oakland has 31 penalties in three games.
Friday’s game
San Francisco at San Diego, 10 p.m. ET
Chargers’ top goal: Keep it simple and keep everyone healthy.
