The Chargers got down to the NFL-mandated 75-player limit Tuesday by making three moves.
Rookie cornerback Brandon Hughes was put on the injured reserve. He suffered a major knee injury in practice Monday. Hughes was a fifth-round pick. The Chargers hoped he would play in their cornerback rotation.
Rookie receiver Demetrius Byrd was put on the reserve-non football injury list. Byrd was taken in the seventh round this season out of LSU. He was injured in an auto accident a week before the draft. Byrd was considered a mid-round pick before the accident.
The team also cut linebacker Anthony Felder.
