Wrapping up a just plan nutty day in the AFC West:
Don’t be surprised if the receiver-hungry Chiefs show an interest in David Tyree, who was cut by the Giants. Baltimore and St. Louis are also showing interest.
Because he’s a vested veteran, Tyree likely won’t be signed until after the first game of the season. If he were to be signed before the first game and cut during the season, his entire season salary would be guaranteed.
It would be ironic if the Chiefs signed Tyree. It was Tyree’s miracle catch that spurred the Giants’ Super Bowl win over New England in February 2008. Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli was an executive with the Patriots, who saw their perfect season spoiled in the game.
