Evening AFC West news and notes

The Raiders are getting aggressive in their stance with Richard Seymour while New England coach Bill Belichick is washing his hands of the situation.

This has become a holdout. That’s what it is. Seymour doesn’t want to be in Oakland, or least, right now. If the Raiders start to squeeze him, it may make Seymour come to town, unless he wants to retire and that’s unlikely. It’s becoming more apparent that Seymour will miss Monday’s game with San Diego as this saga drags on.

In other AFC West news:

  • Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco’s comments have fired up the Chiefs. That’s nice, but the Chiefs may need more if they are going to beat the Ravens.

  • There’s yet another turn in the Shawne Merriman legal saga.

  • Keep an eye on Bobby Wade and the Chiefs. Todd Haley coached Wade in Chicago and the Chiefs badly need veteran receivers. Really, I’d be surprised if Wade doesn’t join the Chiefs. He was cut Thursday by Minnesota.
