Here are some areas the Denver Broncos need to focus on after a 41-23 home loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday:

Recap: The Broncos showed they aren’t ready to hang with the big boys of the AFC in an 18-point loss to New England. The Broncos also learned they can’t self destruct and survive. Denver fumbled three times in the second quarter that directly led to 13 New England points. The Patriots scored 27 unanswered points in the second and the third quarters. Denver’s six-game winning streak ended and they are now at 8-6. The Broncos remain in first place in the AFC West and are still in good shape for the playoffs.

Biggest area to fix: The fumbles. Few teams can overcome losing three balls in its territory in one quarter. Ball security has to be an emphasis this week in Denver.

Biggest area to build on: The Broncos started fast and led 16-7 early in the second quarter. Denver held the ball for 10 minutes, 45 seconds and had 167 yards rushing in the first quarter before the turnover epidemic started. Usually, these type of starts result in a win.

What to watch for: The Broncos haven’t dealt with adversity in a long time. Let’s see how they react Saturday at Buffalo against a Bills’ team that has lost seven straight games.
