The Kansas City Chiefs announced the signing of receiver Bobby Wade on Tuesday.

Wade’s signing in Kansas City has made sense because the Chiefs need receivers and Wade played for Kansas City coach Todd Haley in Chicago.

Wade had 54 catches for Minnesota last season. He has a chance to emerge as a starting receiver in Kansas City along with Dwayne Bowe.

Meanwhile, Haley said Tuesday that quarterback Matt Cassel is still uncertain to make his Chiefs’ debut Sunday against Oakland. Cassel suffered a knee injury Aug. 29 and he didn’t play in the opener at Baltimore.

If Cassel’s mobility improves during the week, Cassel will likely play against Oakland.

Meanwhile, to make room for Wade, Kansas City cut linebacker Turk McBride. He was a second-round pick in 2007. The new Kansas City regime converted him to a 3-4 linebacker from defensive end this year. But he couldn’t make the switch.

The Chiefs have had little patience for draft choices of during the Carl Peterson-Herm Edwards era.
