It is looking more and more like Matt Cassel will make his Kansas City debut Sunday against Oakland. He has practiced all week after missing the season opener at Baltimore with a sprained knee.
Cassel’s mobility is improving. He said today he is “leaps and bounds” better than last week. That was the plan when Cassel was held out last week. The Chiefs wanted him to be completely healthy this week and it looks like he will be ready. It will be a major surprise if he is not proclaimed the starter.
Also in the AFC West:
- The Raiders aren’t acting like they are on the verge of signing defensive back Chris McAlister.
- Warren Sapp isn’t impressed by the Raiders or the Chiefs after Week 1. How can Sapp write off the Raiders after they played well against San Diego? That’s just silly, and it smacks of the former Raider having something against his former team.
- Brandon Marshall continues to make friends and influence people in Denver.
- Despite the Chiefs bringing in several veterans, they actually got younger this year.
