Apparently, Kansas City Chiefs fans want the team to go big in terms of drafting a rookie quarterback.
In our poll Tuesday, we asked fans to vote on what quarterback the Chiefs should pursue in the draft. The options were Texas A&M’s Ryan Tannehill, Michigan State’s Kirk Cousins, Oklahoma State’s Brandon Weeden and Arizona State’s Brock Osweiler. The Chiefs are investigating several of the top quarterbacks leading up to the April 26-28 draft.
As of 2 p.m. ET Wednesday, 31 percent of the votes tallied were in favor of the Chiefs drafting Tannehill, while Cousins and Weeden both received 26 percent of the votes and Osweiler received 17 percent.
Tannehill is expected to be an early first-round pick. The Chiefs have the No. 11 pick, so they may have to try to trade up to get Tannehill if they want him. Cousins and Weeden could be available when the Chiefs pick at No. 44 in the second round. Osweiler could possibly be available in the third round.
I think the Chiefs might be better off taking Cousins or Weeden in the second round unless they think Tannehill is a perfect fit for them and he is the immediate missing link.
Thanks to everyone who played along.
