This is a good year to need a defensive tackle.
That’s great news in the AFC West.
In one form or another, each team in the division could use a defensive tackle, or a nose tackle in a 3-4 defense. In fact, Kansas City (No. 11), Denver (No. 25) and Oakland (No. 95) all could use their first pick on a player at the position. San Diego could use a middle-round pick on a player at the position. The 2012 draft offers a versatile, deep class of defensive tackles.
Steve Muench of Scouts Inc. offers an Insider piece on the five top nose tackles in the draft. They all should be taken within the first three rounds, and a couple should be snared in the first round. I wouldn’t be shocked if at least two of the players on this list end up being drafted by an AFC West team.
