Paymah, Williams step up in Denver

With Denver attempting to trade cornerback Domonique Foxworth, the focus at backup cornerback is on Karl Paymah and rookie Jack Williams.

Paymah, like Foxworth, was a third-round pick in 2005. Paymah will be the nickel cornerback. Last season in the nickel situation, Paymah played right cornerback while starter Dre' Bly would played the nickel spot.

Denver likes Paymah, and that is one the reasons why it is trying to trade Foxworth. Like Foxworth, Paymah is a free agent after next season. It wouldn't be a surprise if Denver tried to extend Paymah's contract this season.

The team really likes Williams as well. The fourth-round pick from Kent State is a ball hawk. He showed it in the preseason with two interceptions. The team will not be afraid to use him, especially now that Foxworth appears on his way out.
