The San Diego Chargers were the clear draft winners (we’ll see the true results in a few years) in the AFC West as far as early considerations go.
In our AFC West poll this week, as of 1:15 p.m. ET Wednesday, San Diego was a runaway winner in our poll, which asked readers to vote on who had the best draft in the division. San Diego received 44 percent of the vote, Kansas City 23, Denver 18 and Oakland 15.
I think it is the right call. All four AFC West teams did some nice things, but the Chargers excelled during the draft, particularly in the first three rounds. San Diego received great value and picked three players -- South Carolina pass-rusher Melvin Ingram, Connecticut defensive lineman Kendall Reyes and LSU safety Brandon Taylor -- who all have a chance to make an impact right away.
Really, there was no other result this poll could have had. Thanks to everyone who played along.
