ESPN’s John Clayton likes the bargain shopping the Oakland Raiders did in free agency.

— San Diego coach Norv Turner is expecting more excitement from the Chargers’ defense in 2012.

— The Chiefs have signed undrafted rookie quarterback Alec Tanney. He is from Monmouth College (Ill.). He set an NCAA Division III record as he threw for 14,249 yards and he set an NCAA record with 157 touchdowns. At best, Tanney is likely looking for a practice-squad spot in 2012.

— Former Kansas City pass-rusher Wallace Gilberry signed with Tampa Bay. It became evident earlier in the offseason that the Chiefs were moving away from the part-time player. He showed occasional good pass-rushing burst, but he wasn’t a consistent performer.

— Denver receiver Brandon Stokley, who will turn 36 this month, showed Monday he still has skills.
