Weekend mail call:
Eddy from Shasta, Calif., wants to know how much Oakland owner Mark Davis and executive Amy Trask have been involved in the team’s decisions this offseason.
Bill Williamson: No more involved that most owners and executives as far as personnel decisions go. This is Reggie McKenzie’s show. He is the general manager and he is making the calls. That’s the way it should be.
Jesse from San Diego wants to know if I think defensive end Corey Liuget can make a big impact for the Chargers in 2012.
BW: The Chargers are excited about Liuget. They think he played well last season. However, they thought his talents might not have been utilized enough. They expect new defensive coordinator John Pagano to put the play-making Liuget in position to make a bigger impact. In Liuget, the No. 18 overall pick of the 2011 draft and end Melvin Ingram, the No. 18 pick in this year's draft, San Diego may have two young defensive centerpieces for years to come.
Ryan McMaster from Mullica Hill wants to know if the Raiders could pursue Denver running back Knowshon Moreno if he is cut.
BW: I think a lot of teams would be interested in Moreno if he is cut. He is three years removed from being the No. 12 overall draft pick. While he has not had a productive career, there would be teams interested in giving Moreno a low-risk chance. Oakland would likely be among them, since it could use more depth at running back. But I don’t think the Raiders or any other team is making plans to add Moreno. If he is available, he will get interest. If not, no big deal.
