NAPA, Calif. -- The two players who are most crucial to the Raiders' chances in 2012 are just trying to get to know each other.
McFadden suffered a season-ending injury just when Palmer came to Oakland last October, so the two never played together in 2011.
With McFadden completely recovered from his foot injury, Palmer loves what he sees from him after two days of training camp. Obviously, Palmer is intrigued by McFadden’s explosive speed and game-changing ability.
Yet, McFadden possesses intangibles that the veteran quarterback loves.
“He’s a leader on the team,” Palmer said. “I didn't know he’d be that much of a leader …. He is also a hard worker. He’s one of the hardest workers on the team.”
If Oakland is going to be a factor in the AFC West this year, both McFadden and Palmer have to step up their game. There’s no doubt Palmer is starting the journey fully confident in his backfield mate.
