Elvis Dumervil admitted that a July arrest after an alleged road rage incident weighed on him for the past three weeks.
Now, however, Dumervil can rest easy. He said his attorney has been informed by Miami police that charges will not be filed against him stemming from the July 14 incident in South Beach. Dumervil was arrested after being accused of showing a gun in the incident.
“It was a blessing obviously,” Dumervil said in quotes distributed from the team. “The investigators took the time and got the truth out. They did their due diligence and tried to get everything right. I’ve been confident all along and know I didn’t do anything wrong. It was a matter of being at the wrong place at the wrong time and I’m just ready for football.
“It’s huge. We work so hard as a team. Our organization, since OTAs, minicamp, to come into training camp with such an issue like that trying to assassinate my character, it’s not something I would like to deal with. It’s overwhelming to kind of just deal with football now.”
