Dwayne Bowe is in Kansas City. What does it mean? Who knows.

But the fact Bowe, who has been holding out from the team, is in Kansas City could be a good sign. Metro Sports in Kansas City met Bowe at the airport in Kansas City, but Bowe had no comment.

One of the reasons Bowe is in town could be to sign his franchise tender and report to the Chiefs.

If Bowe signs his tender and ends his holdout, he’d have a month to prepare for the regular season, and I think that would be just enough time.

UPDATE: I know there some unconfirmed reports that Bowe has signed or will sign his tender. Until the Chiefs say so, I’m not buying it.

In other AFC West notes:
  • Oakland offensive coordinator Greg Knapp told the San Francisco Chronicle that rookie receiver Juron Criner and Rod Streater (an undrafted free agent) could have a significant role in the offense. It would be a shock if either player starts early in the season, but it seems like they will have big futures in Oakland.
  • Oakland defensive lineman Richard Seymour told USA Today that he is worried that using replacement officials could compromise the “integrity” of the game. The NFL is using replacement officials because it is engaged in a labor dispute with the permanent officials. I wouldn’t be surprised if more players chime in with similar comments if this dispute continues much longer.
  • Bill Barnwell of Grantland.com doesn’t think the Broncos are a serious Super Bowl threat even with the addition of quarterback Peyton Manning.
