Now that his training camp is a distant memory, it is time to expect Dwayne Bowe to make a major contribution to the Kansas City Chiefs’ as the season starts.
Bowe ended his holdout a day after training cap ended in August. He also missed the entire offseason program. But it seems like Bowe has caught up and up to speed on offensive coordinator Brian Daboll’s system. Bowe is listed as a first-team receiver on the team’s depth chart again.
I expect Bowe to become an instant impact in the red zone. He is one of the most consistent red zone receiving threats in the NFL. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Bowe is second in the NFL on receiving the highest percentage of his team’s red zone targets in the past two seasons. He is ranked over than same time span in red zone receiving touchdowns.
Don’t be surprised if Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel goes to Bowe right away Sunday inside the Falcons’ 20. If Bowe can score once or two in the red zone in Week 1, it will completely bury memories of the holdout.
