The Broncos defense remains on fire and so does Alvin Anol of ESPN Stats & Information. He has compiled statistics that illustrates just how good Denver’s defense has been during its 4-0 start.

Denver’s run defense gained some legitimacy when it held Dallas to 74 yards rushing. Dallas averaged 3.0 yards per carry in the game. Dallas entered the game averaging 6.8 yards per carry.

Rushing Defense by Opponent, 2009 Season
Yds per att
Bengals: 3.2
Browns: 2.6
Raiders: 4.1
Cowboys: 3.0

Denver isn’t improved just against the run. It is better in every aspect of the game.

Through First four Games, 2008 2009

Opp pts all 29.3 6.5

Opp Rush YPG 132.8 77.3

Sacks 6 15

The defensive resurgence is shocking and is a major reason why Denver is unbeaten headed into a huge game against visiting New England on Sunday.
