DENVER -- If Peyton Manning is going to win his first game as a Denver Bronco, he will have to do it with a comeback.

The Pittsburgh Steelers struck first with a short field goal to take a 3-0 lead with 10:10 remaining in the first half.

Denver is playing well defensively. Pittsburgh twice played with a short field -- once after Willis McGahee fumbled in Denver territory and again after a punt deep in Denver’s territory. Denver’s defense tightened up near the goal line before the Steelers had to settle for the field goal.

Manning was 4-of-7 passing for 44 yards in the first quarter. He looked solid. He took two big hits and quickly bounced up both times.
