OAKLAND -- The first quarter is over with the Raiders and Chargers tied at 3-3.

Some thoughts:

Oakland’s offense looked good. It looks fast.

Carson Palmer is sharp and Darren McFadden has made some nice plays. McFadden had seven runs for 27 yards and three catches for 17 yards in the first quarter, Palmer was 8-of-10 passing for 64 yards in the first quarter. He needs to be careful, though. The Chargers’ secondary seems to be reading him well and it nearly picked off a couple of passes.

Oakland undrafted rookie receiver Rod Streater will never forget his first catch. He was hit hard and lost a fumble deep in San Diego territory.

San Diego free-agent pickup, receiver Robert Meachem, will not forget his first catch as a Charger. It was a 46-yard beauty from Philip Rivers to set up a game-tying field goal.
