It was expected to happen on Sunday, but after a subpar performance, San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers is almost certain to join an elite group of NFL quarterbacks.
Rivers needs 27 passing yards Sunday at Kansas City to become the 63rd quarterback in league history with 25,000 career passing yards. If he reaches the plateau Sunday, he will be the seventh fastest in history to do so. It will be his 104th NFL game. Rivers is poised to be the fastest quarterback to reach 25,000 yards who spent the majority of his career in the AFC West.
Rivers threw for just 173 yards in a 27-3 home loss to Atlanta on Sunday. Check out the adjacent list to see the six quarterbacks to reach the feat faster than Rivers. No. 6 on the list is Drew Brees, the same guy who Rivers replaced in San Diego in 2006.
