Oakland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was back to practice Tuesday for the Raiders during a bye-week workout. He missed the Denver game after suffering a concussion against Pittsburgh -- a hit that forced him to stay overnight at a hospital. Barring a setback, Heyward-Bey should be able to play Oct. 14 at Atlanta.
The Broncos signed linebacker Mike Mohamed, wide receiver Bert Reed and offensive tackle Darrion Weems to the practice squad and it cut guard Adam Grant from the squad.
The Chargers have announced they signed cornerback Chris Carr. It was first reported Monday. No corresponding move was announced. U-T San Diego reports kicker Nate Kaeding is “week-to-week” with a groin injury. Nick Novak has taken his place.
