Via Arrowheadpride.com, profootballfocus.com has two of the AFC West left tackles highly ranked.
The site lists Denver left tackle Ryan Clady as the No. 2 best left tackle in the NFL so far this season and Kansas City’s Branden Albert as the No. 3 left tackle.
Both players are in a contract year and both teams want to keep their tackles. Clady backslid some the past two seasons after excelling in his first two campaigns while Albert has steadily improved.
I could see Clady being given the franchise tag if an extension cannot be reached. I also think the Chiefs will try to get a deal done with Albert before the end of the season.
I asked Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. to get his view on Clady and Albert’s play this season.
"I truly don’t think either player is a top three LT, but both are clearly improving. I think Peyton Manning and the new scheme has a ton to do with it for Clady. Being an offensive lineman for Tim Tebow is a brutal chore with as long as he holds the ball. Also a contract year for Clady if I recall. As for Albert, a guard in college, technique was never his strong suit, but seems to be coming into his own now. “
